I could go on about this topic forever by the way (and I might but in tolerable rations). I’m a proud fan girl when it comes to movies that are parallel universes of pretty.
Wes Anderson es parte de una de mis pandillas cinematográficas favoritas: Jason Schwartzman, Los Wilsons, Bill Murray, bueno, existe mucha colaboración recurrente en sus films. Podría hablar de este tema por siempre por cierto (y probablemente lo haga pero en raciones tolerables). Soy una fanática orgullosa cuando se trata de películas que son universos paralelos de cosas lindas.

Decoupage has been around so long that it even has a classy french word for it. I have been decoupaging for at least 15 years but in my very own way. I was influenced by my father who would always tear apart pieces of magazines he'd like, like a watch, a logo, etc. He would fill out notebooks with these scraps, my father is a publicist by the way. I also did that, but these scrapping soon develop into glueing those magazine scraps on notebooks, boxes, tins, etc.
El decoupage ha existido por tanto tiempo que hasta es una elegante palabra en francés. Yo he estado decoupagiando por al menos 15 años pero a mi manera. Fui influenciada por mi papá que siempre arrancaba pedazos de revistas que le gustaban, como un reloj, un logo, etc. El llenaba cuadernos con estos retazos, mi papá es un publicista por cierto. Yo también hacía eso pero este recortar y pegar pronto evolucionó a pegar esos recortes de revistas en cuadernos, cajas, latas, etc.

My own blog banner is the decoupaged lid of one of my boxes. Instead of using varnish to seal it, I use scotch tape. Classy.

Mi banner del blog es la tapa de una de mis cajas decoupage. En lugar de usar barniz para sellar, uso cinta scotch. Elegante.

For years and especially before the internet, the distribution format of tv series and music albums was very specific. It was announced before hand, they did the commercials, the talk shows, the appearances, the expectation was built. You could only watch what was on tv and you could only buy music from a store or listen to it on the radio. We all know that formula has changed dramatically in the last two decades but even after some reformulation, you still have to wait a week to watch the new episode of your tv show and you still have to listen to some singles before the debut of a new music album. Well, not anymore!
Por años, especialmente antes de la Internet, el formato de distribución de las series de televisión y los álbumes musicales era muy específico. Era anunciado con antelación, hacían los comerciales, los programas de entrevistas, las apariciones, se creaba la expectación. Solo podías ver lo que pasaban en televisión y solo podías comprar música de una tienda o escucharla en la radio.  Todos sabemos que esa formula ha cambiado dramáticamente en las últimas dos décadas pero aún después de alguna re-formulación, aún debes esperar una semana para ver un nuevo episodio de tu serie de televisión. y aún debes escuchar algunos singles antes del debut de un nuevo trabajo musical. Pues no mas!

About a month ago, the latest Sofia Coppola movie “The Bling Ring” appeared on my Netflix as a “recently added” so naturally I dropped everything I was doing and watched it. I liked it but I still wanted to know what the critics thought of it so I went to Rotten Tomatoes and as I thought, it had mixed reviews. 

Hace un mes aproximadamente la última película de Sofia Coppola "The Bling Ring" apareció en mi Netflix como "agregados recientemente" así que naturalmente deje todo lo que estaba haciendo y la vi. Me gustó pero aún quería saber que pensaban los críticos de ella así que fui a Rotten Tomatoes  y como pensé, tenia criticas variadas.

I think we have all been there. With my boyfriend as my witness, I showed him the “We Can’t Stop” video some time ago and told him “isn’t it edgy and cool? Isn't the song good?” He was like “Girl, you crazy” and everybody else went that way, especially after the twerking at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards, which I missed. (Who watches tv? or MTV?)
Creo que todos hemos estado ahí. Con mi novio como testigo, le enseñe el video de "We Can't Stop" hace algún tiempo y le dije "¿no te parece cool y diferente? ¿No es la canción buena? A lo cual él respondió "Estas loca" y todo el mundo tomo esa dirección, especialmente después del twerking en los MTV Video Music Awards de 2013, los cuales me perdí. (¿Quién ve televisión? ¿Quién ve MTV?)

I like heels just as much as anybody else but I’m simply not able to walk in them. I was blaming my obesity for it but I haven’t been this big forever (but truly, a fat person in heels is a fat person suffering). Don’t worry it’s ok for me to make fun of fat people, given my condition.
Me gustan los tacones tanto como a cualquiera pero simplemente no soy capaz de caminar en ellos. Estaba culpando a mi obesidad pero no he sido así de gorda siempre (pero en serio, una gorda en tacones es una gorda sufriendo). No se preocupen yo puedo hacer estos chistes, dada mi condición.

If you like myself have curly hair and have decided to stay curly, you know that it can sometimes be a real drag. For the longest time I tried to achieve that super pretty whimsical fairy curls that all the models in the ads seem to have. All hope is not lost (but yeah that hair is impossible to have without some serious heat styling). 

Si tú como yo tenes el pelo colocho y has decidido que se quede colocho, sabes que a veces puede ser un verdadero problema. Por mucho tiempo he tratado de obtener ese colochos super lindos, magicos, como de hada que todas las modelos en los anuncios parecen tener. No he perdido la esperanza (pero si, ese pelo es imposible de tener sin pistolearse, plancharse, rulos y mucho calor)

I’m still on the look out. Like all of us, I too google solutions to every problem in my life and have recently, after reading so much about curly hair and natural products, decided to stay away from the shelves when it comes to my shampoo and conditioner. I think that for now I will try something different, something natural. I mean, why not?

Sigo en la búsqueda. Como todos, yo también busco la respuesta de todos mis problemas en google y decidí recientemente, después de mucho leer acerca de pelo colocho y productos naturales, mantenerme alejada de los anaqueles cuando se trate de mi champú y acondicionador. Creo que por ahora, probare algo diferente, algo natural. Digo, ¿por qué no?
