No podemos parar de hablar de Miley.

I think we have all been there. With my boyfriend as my witness, I showed him the “We Can’t Stop” video some time ago and told him “isn’t it edgy and cool? Isn't the song good?” He was like “Girl, you crazy” and everybody else went that way, especially after the twerking at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards, which I missed. (Who watches tv? or MTV?)
Creo que todos hemos estado ahí. Con mi novio como testigo, le enseñe el video de "We Can't Stop" hace algún tiempo y le dije "¿no te parece cool y diferente? ¿No es la canción buena? A lo cual él respondió "Estas loca" y todo el mundo tomo esa dirección, especialmente después del twerking en los MTV Video Music Awards de 2013, los cuales me perdí. (¿Quién ve televisión? ¿Quién ve MTV?)

So I decided to shush my love for Miley but then some weeks after, at a friend's birthday party, she was all out and about talking about Miley, not hiding her love for her so why should I? I can’t help but wonder why people take Miley Cyrus so seriously but not global warming. Any thoughts? So many things have been said: She is too skinny, she is not toned, her face is ugly, she doesn't know how to dress, she is a bad influence and so on. Is Miley Cyrus really what is wrong with society?
Así que decidí silenciar mi amor por Miley pero entonces unas semanas después, en la fiesta de cumpleaños de una amiga, ella estaba orgullosa hablando de Miley, sin esconder su amor por ella ¿por qué debería yo? No puedo evitar preguntarme porque las personas toman a Miley Cyrus tan en serio pero no al calentamiento global. ¿Alguna idea? Tantas cosas se han dicho: Es muy delgada, no esta en forma, su cara es fea, no sabe como vestirse, es una mala influencia. ¿Es Miley Cyrus realmente lo que esta mal con la sociedad?

Jennifer Lawrence and Rashida Jones are listed among Miley’s most recent dissers. The stars have talked about how the whole “sex sells” dynamic (which clearly Miley herself invented) is disgusting. I wonder what they are selling over here:
Jennifer Lawrence y Rashida Jones se sumaron recientemente a la lista de personas que desaprueban el comportamiento de Miley. Las estrellas han hablado de como toda la dinámica de "el sexo vende" (que Miley claramente inventó) es asquerosa. Me pregunto que están vendiendo ellas por aquí:

I realize that that’s a low punch and I know women’s oversexualitation in media is a serious topic but I cannot help to think on the many levels of hypocrisy, from all of us.

Me doy cuenta de que es un golpe bajo y se que la sobresexualización de las mujeres en los medios es un tema serio pero no puedo dejar de pensar en los muchos niveles de hipocresía, de todos nosotros.

• Fact: She is actually musically talented and it’s trying to come up with something for a change. She collaborated with Pharrell ok!
• Hecho: Ella es, de hecho, talentosa musicalmente y esta tratando de crear algo diferente para variar. ¡Ha colaborado con Pharrell ok!
• Fact: Twerking is practically perreo and you have done it so stop making it a big deal.
• Hecho: El twerking es prácticamente perreo y has bailado de esa manera así que deja de hacer la gran bulla. 
• Fact: Those little panties she wears, where really big in the 90’s. I bet your mom wore them at the beach and I have nothing against that.
• Hecho: Esos calzoncitos que se pone, fueron la sensación en los 90's. Apuesto que tu mamá los usó en la playa y no tengo nada contra eso.

I could go on with these facts but I think the bottom line to me, the reason why so many people don’t like Miley (at least in my country) it’s because she is not playing sexy or pretty at least not in the way we are use to.

Podría seguir con la lista pero creo que el punto final para mi, la razón por la cual tantas personas no gustan de Miley (por lo menos en El Salvador) es porque ella no esta tratando de ser sexy o bonita, al menos no de la manera que estamos acostumbrados.

Even after (or maybe thanks to) all the heat, this was definitely Miley’s year! She even was a TIME Magazine Person of the Year Nominee. I think that Miley, as well as some other singers, are making pop bearable, cool again. Do we really need another 2000’s Britney Spears or Christina Aguilera? Pretending to be virgins and well-behaved? Was anybody buying into that? I wasn’t and I was 10. Do we need more Lady Gagas and Nick Minajs?

A pesar (o quizás gracias) a todo, ¡definitivamente este fue el año de Miley! Incluso estuvo nominada por la revista TIME como Persona del Año. Creo que Miley, al igual que otros cantantes, están haciendo el pop tolerable, chivo de nuevo. ¿En realidad necesitamos otra Britney Spears o Christina Aguilera del 2000? ¿Pretendiendo ser vírgenes y bien portadas? ¿Alguien les creía esa historia? Yo no, y tenia 10 años. ¿Necesitamos mas Lady Gagas o Nick Minajs?

Music-wise Miley is better. I don’t know anything about music but I like Bangerz. "We Can't Stop" was a hit, clocking in at No. 17 on Billboard's year-end Hot 100 chart. She also made it as MTV’s Artist of the Year. What can I say, the people have spoken.

Musicalmente Miley ha mejorado. No se nada de música pero me gusta Bangerz. "We Can´t Stop" fue un hit, termino como la No. 17 en la cartelera Hot 100 de Billboard de 2013. Este año también consiguió el premio de Artista del Año de MTV. Que puedo decir, el pueblo ha hablado.

Sure, I don't aprove of everything Miley does but I like her music and her attitude. If I could leave you with some food for thought, it would have to be some words from one of the songs written for Miley, "forget the haters 'cause somebody loves ya"
Claro que no apruebo todo lo que Miley hace pero me gusta su música y su actitud. Si pudiera dejarlos con una reflexión, tendrían que ser algunas palabras de una de las canciones escrita para Miley, "forget the haters 'cause somebody loves ya"
